Hi, and welcome to my site.

If you're reading this you're probably looking for a counsellor and wanting to know a bit more about me to see if I am the right fit to work with you.

So, a little about me...

My name is Sharon and I am a mother of 3 boys, located in the beautiful town of Omokoroa.

When I'm not working or attending to mum duties I enjoy hiking mountains, visiting the beach, and going to the gym.

I hold a level 7 bachelor's degree in counselling, and am working towards my membership with the NZAC, as I have a passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves.

I am aware that life doesn't always go to plan and we are often faced with difficulties that we learn to navigate as they arise, as I have found from personal experience. I have discovered that exploring different perspectives along with deep self-reflection are a huge part of navigating these times, and that's where counselling is most beneficial.

My enthusiasm for counselling started when I observed a significant need to improve access to mental health care in our country. I believe that everyone can benefit from exploring their deeper subconscious thoughts in a safe space to do so, to increase their overall well-being or uncover the deeper parts of ourselves.

I hold quite a holistic view of the world, that everything holds meaning, we just need to better understand ourselves to access our fullest potential.

My way of working with clients is based on an eclectic model of counselling, pulling parts from different modalities, such as CBT, narrative therapy, inner-child work, and gestalt therapy, in order to work best with each individual client. I use a strength based, person centered approach which ensures that the sessions are completely yours to work on whatever issues arise for you, and i won't make you discuss anything you are not comfortable with. I make sure you feel completely safe and understood throughout our journey together, while giving you the tools to improve your situation.

I recognize that the client/ counsellor relationship is the most important aspect for growth and I honor this by offering a free 15 minute call or zoom session to see if I would be the right fit for you. I also encourage you to address any issues and have no problem helping you find another counsellor if you decide that would be a better option for you, as your journey to healing is the most important aspect in our work together.

If the cost of counselling sessions is an issue for you, I am open to discuss payment options, or have a discussion around your situation to see how I can best support you. As i feel counselling should be accessible by everyone, regardless of your situation. I am also hoping to be able to offer WINZ quotes in the near future.

I look forward to hearing from you.
